Coach Bio Checklist

Use this checklist to ensure your bio…

How to write a compelling bio.

Start strong.

Kick your bio off with a bold or intriguing statement that tells clients exactly what you do.

✔️ “I help stressed-out managers handle tricky team dynamics without losing sleep or their cool.”

❌ “I help managers achieve their goals.”

Keep it relatable.

Share your professional background and focus areas but keep it relatable by limiting jargon.

✔️ “I’ve been in the trenches—leading teams, navigating office politics and figuring out how to actually enjoy Mondays. Now, I help others do the same through personalized coaching.”

❌ “I leverage evidence-based methodologies, including neuro-linguistic programming and systems thinking, to facilitate transformational leadership outcomes in mid-level professionals navigating complex organizational paradigms.”

Stand out.

Show how your approach stands out by highlighting what makes you different. Think: What do your clients love about working with you?

✔️ “My coaching style is practical, down-to-earth and a little playful. No fluff, no cookie-cutter advice—just strategies that work in the real world of instant message pings and back-to-back meetings.”

❌ “My coaching style is professional. Clients enjoy working with me.”

Be specific.

Use specific, relatable results your clients have experienced.

✔️ “Clients I’ve worked with have gone from dreading performance reviews to confidently running them. One even told me, ‘I’m finally the kind of boss I always wished I had.’”

❌ “Clients I’ve worked with enjoy their work more.”

Get personal.

Let clients know why you’re passionate about what you do by using your personal experience.

✔️ “I started coaching after burning out in my own corporate job. Learning how to set boundaries, communicate better and align my work with my values changed everything—and now I’m here to help others do the same.”

❌ “I started coaching after years of working my own corporate job.”

Be transparent.

Let people know what your coaching philosophy entails and how you’ll show up for them.

✔️ “I’m all about asking clients the tough questions, offering new perspectives and helping people get unstuck. My goal? To give clients the tools to handle work drama and thrive in their career—not just survive it.”

❌ “I started coaching because I wanted to help other people.”
