Turning Anxiety Into an Ally
Experiencing stress is a healthy human body response when confronted with a situation a person must adapt to. Anxiety is defined as an emotional reaction triggered by the apprehension of distressing events or the anticipation of a future threat. Although stress can improve physical and intellectual performance to a certain extent, too much of it can impair social, psychological and physical functioning, and lead to severe exhaustion. This training aims to identify associated cognitive and behavioral processes, develop a problem-solving, action-oriented way of thinking, and clarify how confronting fears, tolerating discomfort and changing the frame of reference of intrusive thoughts can lead to greater self-control. By focusing on these different aspects, you’ll learn to manage and tolerate the uncertainty and discomfort associated with anxiety, so you can regain some control over your life.
